Show up at the annual meeting to express your outrage.
Picket the annual meeting, the 15 branch locations.
Warn your friends and family about these evil fees; show them how there are many alternative financial institutions.
Warn and educate your neighbors, even strangers while waiting in line at the grocery store.
Refer people to http://www.ASmarterChoice.org or this site, http://ArizonaFederalCreditUnionMembers.wordpress.com, to find a friendly credit union that is fair with members, not “stealing” $3 from them monthly.
File complaints with the National Credit Union Administration aka the NCUA, the regulator of Arizona FCU.
Post reviews on the Internet.
Write Letters to the Editor of your local newspaper.
Contact journalists and the media to let them know how this unavoidable fee is wrong.
Run for a seat on the Board of Directors, to work from within, to rescind the $3 monthly weasel fees.
Let Arizona Federal Credit Union know there are serious repercussions for turning their backs on loyal Arizona FCU members.

If you must close your account to avoid these reprehensible unjust monthly fees, we completely understand. However, you should likewise understand that you are giving up your ownership rights to the credit union that belong to you and all other members in equal proportion, as each member owns 1 share of the credit union, and gets 1 vote, regardless of your balance size.

Arizona Federal is practically “stealing” $3 from its members every month. What are the members going to do about it?

About Arizona Federal Credit Union Members United

Arizona Federal Credit Union Members United is a group of over 100 members and former members who care about our credit union being run fairly. The leadership of the credit union has failed to represent us properly by enacting a new and unnecessary, unavoidable, unconscionable, $3 monthly membership fee that we did not want. The members did not ask for this. Before implementing such a counter-productive fee, the proposal should have been put up for a vote to all the members to decide, so the will of the people is followed. The member-owners of Arizona FCU should not be taxed $3 monthly, simply for being a member. We want all the $3 monthly member fees refunded to all current and past members, the elimination of the fee going forward, and the elimination of the $25 rejoining fee. We are against any financial institution charging an unavoidable ongoing membership fee, simply for being a member. This is the wrong approach. Members and customers should be valued, not punished. We want to see Arizona FCU succeed, not fail. Imposing unfair policies that are detrimental to the long-run success of the credit union and detrimental to society should be abolished.

A bank or credit union charging for checking is fine, because you are paying to get something. Charging to be a customer of a bank or credit union is wrong because it is a sign that the institution does not respect or value the customer. A customer shouldn’t have to pay money to be a customer. Fees should only be charges for services you have like checking accounts, because then you can avoid them.

Thats why there are so many unhappy members behind this blog that brought this into the news in the first place, when those scumbags at Arizona Federal were trying to keep it quiet.

  2. MovingToAlly says:

I’m voting … I’m in the process of leaving AZFed. Moving to Ally. Huge increase in financial benefits. Can’t believe it took a $3 fee to get me to move.

$35k may not be a lot of voting power with AZFed, but it is mine, and they aren’t going to get $3 more from me.

  3. millionaire says:

While I am a millionaire and can afford to pay a $3 monthly fee, I find that charging this fee on the backs of members to be reprehensible as it most harms the poor. Credit unions are supposed to be for everyone, not just richer members.
